
As we near the end of the month, we wanted to take some time to reflect on the past year, highlight the hard work and dedication of our team, and set a vision for 2022. We sat down with the President of Pentaflex, Inc., Ross McGregor, to ask him a few questions about 2021 at Pentaflex and the leadership team’s expectations as we approach the new year.
Q: What do you believe was Pentaflex’s biggest accomplishment in 2021?
A: The Pentaflex team has performed exceptionally well in 2021, despite the numerous obstacles created by the pandemic. Even with our challenges, we have been able to launch new programs and successfully install several pieces of capital equipment in the past 12 months. These accomplishments allowed us to continue to perform at a high level of quality for our customers while also setting us up for success in the years ahead.
Q: What was a challenge that Pentaflex experienced in 2021 and how did your team overcome the challenge?
A: Like many manufacturers, Pentaflex was faced with material and labor shortages. In addition, the steel industry has, and continues to, struggle to keep up with demand which impacts our ability to fill our customer orders per their schedules. Attracting talented labor remains a challenge, but our core group of employees has stepped up to make sure that we are meeting customer demands.
Q: What is the biggest lesson the Pentaflex learned during the past year?
A: While it is a lesson we already knew, this year was an excellent reminder that our people remain the heartbeat of the company. While we will continue to explore automation where applicable, all the best machinery in the world is useless without talented men and women to create and execute our company’s vision.
Q: Were there any technology or process advancements in 2021 that you believe made an impact on your team and/or your customers?
A: Pentaflex continues to invest in state-of-the-art equipment to maintain our competitive edge. We have recently installed a new machining center to offer additional services to our customer base, and we continue to introduce automation in cases where appropriate to reduce low-skill, repetitive operations.
Q: What are you most excited about for Pentaflex and its customers in 2022?
A: Pentaflex has numerous new programs that we are preparing to launch for new and existing customers in the coming year. This will require bringing on additional members of the Pentaflex team to ensure successful launches.
