Team Member Spotlight: Skylar Sothard, Customer Service

With more than 40 years of experience in manufacturing, one of the key components that sets Pentaflex Inc. apart from the rest is our people. Today, we would like to introduce you to Skylar Sothard.

We asked him a few questions about his role at Pentaflex, what he has learned and what he enjoys most about his career in manufacturing.

When did you start working at Pentaflex?

I began my employment at Pentaflex in early October 2025. During my first week, I worked on the shop floor to familiarize myself with the company’s operational processes and daily activities. Each day, I was assigned to a different press or station to gain a comprehensive understanding of all areas of the facility.

Why did you decide to work at Pentaflex?

I chose to work at Pentaflex because I was provided the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a manufacturing environment while building a strong understanding of industrial processes. The company’s emphasis on quality, efficiency, teamwork, and growth closely aligns with my mindset and long-term career goals.

Please share what a normal day looks like for you at Pentaflex.

My typical day at Pentaflex includes managing customer enquiries, processing orders both manually and through EDI, and closely monitoring order and delivery statuses to ensure timely fulfilment.

I maintain regular communication with customers and internal teams to resolve any issues that arise and support efficient order processing.

Additionally, I keep detailed records up to date by regularly reviewing customer portal data and updating pricing and transaction information. This ensures that all information is accurate and supports ongoing customer satisfaction and process improvements.

What is your favorite part about working at Pentaflex?

My favorite part about working at Pentaflex is that no two days are the same. Working on various tasks keeps the job interesting and challenges me to adapt and problem-solve.

What is one thing you have learned more about since working here?

Since joining Pentaflex, I’ve developed a much clearer understanding of the day-to-day operations of a manufacturing business. I’ve also learned how various stations coordinate processes to ensure orders are completed efficiently and meet our high-quality standards.

If someone is thinking about a career in manufacturing, what advice would you give them?

It can feel overwhelming at first, trying to learn how so many machines, processes, and departments work together. However, approaching it one step at a time makes it much more manageable.

Don’t hesitate to ask questions, watch how experienced team members operate, and get as much hands-on experience as possible.

Is there anything else you would like to share?

Overall, Pentaflex has been a valuable learning experience. I’ve gained hands-on experience, learned how all pieces of the company fit together, and enjoyed being part of a supportive team.
